How I made a nice ritual because of my morning pills

I was always a morning type.
The one that likes to get up early and think with excitement about the coming day. When I look back into my past, I never had a problem getting up early, be it for work or for some other reason. It could be like that because my dad was working in the army. He was a strict parent and in the evening, after the cartoon at 8 pm had finished on tv, we had to go to bed to sleep. That was discipline.

Like I said, I didn’t have any problem getting up early. But recently I felt like something was missing there. I think I didn’t use the quality of that part of the day for some important discipline and focus. To set the day properly. A year ago, I started taking a pill for my thyroid. That was a new thing for me. I was feeling sad and bored at the same time. Every morning I have to take a pill and wait for 40 minutes before eating something. It was difficult to accept that this would now be my morning routine. Somehow in that period, spontaneously I started creating a morning ritual. I decided that as soon as I get up and take my pill, to go out for a walk in close by park. I installed some application on my mobile phone to track my steps and distance which made my walk more interesting. I was enjoying the park, the sound of birds, the plants around me and other early “birds” (runners). The next morning I did it again. And the day after, the same and it became part of my ritual. After some time I started practicing yoga, by following some channel on YouTube, even if before, I never liked to do exercises  home alone. I saw that I could do that also.

As the time was passing, I was adding some new things to my ritual. I was changing my program but I always had some program. It made my time after taking the pill much more interesting. It became nice morning program for me.

Getting up early in the morning means going to bed around 11pm. If I go to bed around 10pm I would naturally wake up around 6.  It is nice to feel the morning quietness in a city of 4 million. Let’s see what are those rituals.

What would be my rituals by order :

  • Making my bed
  • Taking my pill for thyroid with two glasses of water
  • If I have time, going out for a walk 4-5 km (around an hour)
  • Doing yoga for 20 min or meditation for 15 min
  • Writing thoughts and plans for that day.

It is important to make things more interesting for us, to make some things that are not so interesting easier to handle. Usually we hear that all the beauty is in little things. Little things that make our lives better. What do you do to make your life easier to live?
